Little Robin Redbreast.
At Púróga I get so many requests for Robin themed pebble art.
I have always been fascinated by the different symbolic meaning of the little Robin across different cultures and religions. In Ireland they are often thought to bear the spirit of a loved one. As a child, I always remember being told ‘Oh there’s Grandad’ when a Robin appeared in the garden or ‘there’s Aunty May coming to say hello’. This was never questioned it was just accepted as fact that it was indeed Grandad or Aunty May as a Robin. As an adult I now know that when Robins appear many people take comfort and believe that loved ones are at peace. You will definitely see an image of a robin in a remembrance/ memorial gift or card.
I find the autumn/winter months can be a reflective time. I believe when a robin flies into our lives it is to awaken us spiritually and give us the reassurance that our abilities are enough to carry us through the most difficult of times.
Whatever your beliefs, I’m sure we all agree that Robins are beautiful little birds. They are most beautiful in winter…A small flame in a cold season.
